Fun Maths Revision

Most people find maths assignments & attending classes very boring, and the thought of revising it can really put you down sometimes. This does not have to be the case as there are fun ways in which you can revise maths. Maths often gives students a problem and this article will begin with some of the fun ways in which you can revise numbers, handling data and shapes, measurements and spaces.

Additions

When it comes to additions, students can revise by using a pipe that has been cut into various sizes. Each piece of the pipe should represent a certain number. The pipe is divided into pieces of one, two or three parts. Drag two pieces of the slide into each gap to repair it. Every pair that you join must add up to 20. This will give you a fun way to add numbers.

Decimals

When you want to arrange decimals from the lowest to the highest in a fun way, you can write down the decimals numbers on different pieces of paper. Take some picture hooks and hang them on a wall. Each hook should be placed higher than the one before it. Take each decimal point and put it on a hook starting with the lowest. This method can also be used when you are revising fractions. Each fraction should be placed on a hook beginning with the lowest fraction.

Division

Draw ten rectangular shapes on two rows and fill them in with different colors. For each rectangle write down a number that are divisible by six. Each of the numbers on one row should be divisible by a number on the other row.

Taking measurements

To measure the length of a parcel, hang a ruler of about 30 cm against a wall and place the parcel below it. Write down the measurements that you get. This can be repeated for different parcels.

Picking out shapes

Put various types of triangles on a machine that circulates and identity the type as they go by.

Getting the median and mode

To revise about median, pick cut outs of buildings of different size and arrange them from the shortest to the tallest. Pick the building with the median height and put the median sign beneath it. To get the mode, look at the buildings which have the same height. The height of these buildings will be the mode.

Percentages

Create an image of a park in your mind that is full of grass and add some features like water, flowerbeds, playgrounds and woodland. Give a percentage of 40% for the grass, 15% for the playground, 5% for water, 15% for woodland and 25% for flower beds. Fill the park that had grass with these features in their correct percentages.

Multiplication

Pick a multiplication problem like 2*3. Take a deck of cards to divide it into half and give each student some cards. The students should then turn the cards at the same time and the one who has a card with the right answer wins the cards. This can be repeated for a variety of multiplication problems.

Subtraction

Write down the numbers that you need to subtract on a piece of paper. The problem can be
10-5=. Pick ten dominoes and arrange them in a row. Count five dominoes and remove them from the row. The remaining number of dominoes will give you the correct answer. This can be repeated to get answers to various problems. Dominoes can also be used to revise additions, division and multiplication. These are just some of the methods you can use to revise maths and enjoy yourself in the process.
